The main teacher role

 

In Denmark the students are in a specific class all year around with different teachers, but one of these is the main teacher.

 

The main teacher is the person the students talk to when they have problems, questions or just need to talk.

 

The main teacher has a big influence on the pupils and we try to put the same main teacher on the same class for 2 to 4 years.

 

The main teacher’s tasks:

• Cooperating with the parents cooperation as a group and as an individual.

• Personal counseling and guidance of a whole class and the individual pupil

• The subject

• Social tasks

• Cooperation with the guidance counselor about future education and career opportunities for the pupils

• Cooperation of the work concerning all of the class and also all pupils as an individual concerning:

  • The school management, other teacher, and other groups on the school

  • Other authorities, ex. the school psychologist, counseling, health care and the youth club

• Usual notification about pupils and parents about how the pupils are doing in school

• Coordination concerning events for the whole school and for parts of the school

• Coordination concerning tasks about your personal opinion concerning the individual pupil and the whole class

• Coordination concerning planning, organizing and teaching
